Why Julie and I thought we could walk around the vineyards of Swan Valley is beyond me. A vineyard requires land, a lot of land, for the vines and I think we were caught out by the scale of the beautifully laid out map. Everything looked so close by, on […]
A visit to Cottesloe beach is common for those who live in and around Perth and, apparently, if I had visited a week ago I would have been blown away. Whilst wonderful, it was just far too crowded in comparison to Margaret River, and you know there was hardly anyone […]
A tour of the local beaches was a wonderful way to spend our last day in Margaret River. Even if you’re not a wine fan, this is still an absolutely amazing area that embraces everything that symbolises the Australian culture and way of life. We barely scratched the surface, but I am leaving with the confirmation that this is a magical place for me – I will be back, when and for how long are still too seen.
Carpe Diem (seize the day) is a sentiment that I try to live my life by. I embrace life and all of its curveballs that swings my way to see where they may lead. Gianfranco, the winemaker at Carpe Diem, too embraces this as his way of life, wine making choices and knowledge sharing.

Well here I am again, at Margaret River; an indulgent town south of Perth, in Western Australia, celebrated for its expansive wineries and impressive surf breaks. This time, I am here with a very different outlook for this trip. Well, I mean, there is a wedding too! My purpose, this […]
Join me, Helen Turning tasting into knowledge An adventure of the world’s wine regions, working towards a London based goal. I will be tasting, exploring, learning and meeting those in the “trade” to develop a better understanding of the options out there before starting my own London based shop. I […]
For me, travelling with a purpose was, firstly, to get there (wherever “there” was), visit the top 10 attractions, tick the bucket list and, perhaps most importantly, to say, “oh yes! I’ve been there, it’s really amazing”.Last year, towards the end of a 32-day trip, that perspective shifted, dramatically. The […]
The RAVPower Portable Charger is a staple when on the move. Don’t let its compact size fool you. We put this charger through its paces as a five-day festival, camping with no electricity and the use of a phone, well mostly its camera, with enough GB footage to scare any […]
